ZipRecruiter Review

Finding a job used to be harder than it is now – these days we can view thousands of postings almost instantly at the click of a button with tools like ZipRecruiter! Of course, these new methods come with their own challenges too. It can actually be hard to sift through all of the postings or applicants and find one that suits you if you’re an employer, and as a job seeker it can be hard to stand out.

What Is ZipRecruiter?

In short, ZipRecruiter is a massive online job site that is great for employers as well as job seekers. It’s one of the largest job boards, so you’ve likely heard of it!

The Perks Of ZipRecruiter For Employers

As I mentioned, finding the proper job posting can be difficult (to say the least). However, ZipRecruiter can really help make sure your posting is seen by as many potential applicants as possible. When you post to ZipRecruiter, not only does it post the job on its own site, but it posts it on many other job boards as well. It can even be used to post jobs on a few social media platforms, if that is a better fit for your position.

This solution for employers isn’t free, but it does have a free trial you can use before you have to commit to it. There is a limit to how many positions you can post based on your plan, but there is no limit to the number of applications you can receive (and it is still posted on tons of different job boards for increased visibility). Additionally, ZipRecruiter will notify potential applicants (i.e. individuals who have signed up to one of the job boards and have relevant skills) to make sure it is being seen by people who could actually meet the requirements or demands of the job.

Currently, ZipRecruiter confidently claims that 80% of employers who post a job on their platform will get a quality candidate through the site within the first day. And in case you didn’t know, they also won’t stop matching you with high-quality candidates until you actually shut down and remove your post. So, when you use ZipRecruiter you’ll have an effective system helping you find quality, relevant candidates for your position. I think you’ll be hard-pressed to find a better solution than ZipRecruiter when it comes to finding talent for your company.

Pricing For Employers

In order to get pricing, it is best to contact ZipRecruiter directly. However, the gist of it is that there are 3 different tiers and you can use a free trial to test the waters. The first tier is pretty standard, distributes your posting to over 100 job boards, and makes “hiring on a budget” easy. The second tier includes that plus access to a database of relevant resumes and premium placement in job alert emails (and if you don’t know, email marketing is incredibly effective). The third tier includes everything the others have, plus a plethora of incredibly useful features – check it out to see which features might be a good fit for your business. In short, the third tier is very useful, particularly if you need great talent, fast, and a lot of it.

What Are Some Of The Best Features Of ZipRecruiter?

  • Free trial – Not everyone offers free trials, and it is definitely nice to have the chance to try before making a commitment. Unfortunately, since recruitment times can be lengthy, the length of the trial might not be enough for larger companies with longer hiring processes.
  • Job posting distribution – I don’t think I need to explain this one further, posting your job on over 100 different boards instantly is incredibly effective and practically a must in the modern era!
  • Screening – It’s a pretty quick and simple setup to have a set of questions for job seekers to answer that can immediately identify any disqualifying details. For example, if you require someone to live in one state or country, and a job seeker doesn’t live there and is unwilling to move, this eliminates the need to review their resume or perform an interview at all.
  • Alerts – You’ll know as soon as someone applies to your job, that way you can have an even faster turnaround.
  • Resume database – Being able to search through the resumes of so many job seekers makes finding a good fit immensely easier. Additionally, you can set it up so that you are alerted when a new resume is added that fits your predefined criteria.

How Do I Post An Opening On ZipRecruiter And Try It Out?

Just like everything else, ZipRecruiter makes this a pretty straightforward process.

  1. Go to ZipRecruiter’s website and click on the button that says “post a job” – it is likely in the top right corner of the page
  2. Select the number of employees you have (or identify yourself as a recruiting firm or staffing agency)
  3. Click “post jobs for free”
  4. Enter your name, email, and create a password
  5. Verify that you’re on the pane that says “hire for my company” and NOT “find a job”
  6. Now you’ll need to enter some basic information about your company – its name, how many jobs you need to fill, a description of your hiring needs (from a dropdown list), and a link to your company’s website (the only optional field)
  7. Next you’ll need to provide details about yourself and your role at the company, basic information like your phone number and job title
  8. After the last step, it should take you to a screen where you can design your first job posting
  9. After you set up your first post and save it, ZipRecruiter will prompt you for a payment method and the plan you’d be interested once your free trial ends
  10. Congrats! You can now post your first job! Click “post job now”

What If I’m A Job Seeker?

If you’re a job seeker, ZipRecruiter is still useful! Not only is it free, but the setup is quick and easy. In fact, you could probably finish your first application within minutes, even if you don’t have an account yet. On top of that, ZipRecruiter offers tons of solid features for anyone looking for a new job. You can remove posts from your view that you’re not interested in, you can save job postings so you can review them later, and you can even message potential employers through ZipRecruiter’s message center.

As a job seeker, regardless of all the benefits of ZipRecruiter, I recommend using as many of the different major sites as possible. Yes, ZipRecruiter is one of the biggest and best, but it’s always helps to use competitors as a job seeker too – you don’t want to miss anything. Some of the best places to check, in addition to ZipRecruiter, include Glassdoor, Indeed, Monster, and LinkedIn. Remember, the leg work done now to find a good job will help you achieve a high income.

Conclusion

At the end of the day, ZipRecruiter is an excellent solution for employers and a great job site for seekers. If you need to find quality employees for your organization, ZipRecruiter is incredibly useful, and if you need to find a lot of candidates fast – well, ZipRecruiter might be your only option. If you’re a job seeker, you should definitely use it too. Of course, there is no one job site or board that I would recommend as the only one to use if you need to get a job.
